It is not difficult to find a nice Italian restaurant in Beijing. The Chinese like pizza and pasta, and they appreciate it if they are greeted by an Italian chef in the restaurant.
Mio Italian Restaurant is located on the third floor of the Four Seasons Hotel in Beijing. We went there to try their business lunch, as we wanted to try food prepared by the famous Italian chef, Aniello Turco, from Napoli. Aniello embarked on his culinary journey at his parent’s restaurant when he was only 13. Later he worked in Tuscany, Paris and London, and then joined the team at the two-starred Michelin restaurant, Noma, in Copenhagen.
Aniello is clearly interested in molecular cuisine, with a focus on natural fermentation. MIO received the 2018 Food Awards, Editors’ choice, International Hotel Dining – Time Out Beijing.

Inside Mio Italian restaurant in Beijing

This Mio Italian restaurant in Beijing is very nicely decorated. It’s shiny and reminds you that you came to a fine dining restaurant.
We decided to try a business lunch, which is served Monday to Friday at 12.30 – 2.00 p.m.

Homemade bread in the Miao Italian restaurant in Beijing

The homemade bread

The homemade bread was warm, light and crispy; served with Italian olive oil and a drop of vinegar – it was dangerously tasty.
The Arugula Salad with Parmesan and a tasty Italian dressing (served separately) was a very delicious starter.

A piece of salmon in the Miao Italian restaurant in Beijing

A piece of salmon with vegetable pure

Even a banal piece of salmon with mashed potatoes and vegetable puree tasted good. Three colorful balls of sorbet with three different flavors was a perfect end to the business lunch. The set of three dishes and a cup of espresso cost almost 300 RMB. You can also order a glass of house wine for 88 RMB.
If you are not interested in the business lunch, you can choose a la carte or from two gourmand menu sets, for around 600 RMB per person. Signature dishes include slow-cooked Alaskan black cod, Japanese slow-cooked egg, lobster, etc. Many of the dishes are made from locally-grown organic seasonal produce.
Everything looks delicious and is exquisitely decorated. The service in the restaurant is one of the best that we’ve experienced in Beijing.
In our opinion, the award is well deserved. I will definitely come back to try other dishes.
