There are plenty of Korean restaurants in Seoul. When we asked the Lotte hotel concierge where to go for our late dinner, the reply was quick, ” Try Arirang just behind our hotel.”
It was a very rainy evening, so we were more than happy to go somewhere close.
We followed the instructions and were pleasantly surprised to find a Korean Michelin guide restaurant!
Inside the Korean Michelin Guide restaurant
When we entered, he restaurant was not full, but it was quite late for Korean dinner – around 9.00 p.m. Luckily we got a table without a reservation.
The dining area was pleasant and the decoration very Korean. The tables were equipped for charcoal barbecue: the place was famous for its barbecues.
The menu was available in English, the waiters (all ladies) spoke some English as well.
We were not very hungry and tried to order only one portion of Bulgogi ( pan-fried marinated beef), but we were told that barbecue orders were possible only if we choose two portions. We saw a man eating a barbecue dish, but maybe he ordered two portions:)?
So we ordered two portions and Korean pancakes. The meat was barbecued on the table in front of us. It was extremely tasty, one of the best dishes I ever had in Korea. All side dishes- Kimchi, salads of several kinds were very fresh and delicious. Two serves of Bulgogi was just what we needed.
Korean combined pancakes.
When the big plate of pancakes arrived, we realized that we will never be able to finish it. It had pancakes with Kimchi, some meat, and also fish and vegetables. All were tasty and very filling, but it was simply too much. Oolong tea did not help to make more space in our stomachs, so we had to stop half-way.
We had a perfect dinner in this nice restaurant. The food was traditional and at its best. We paid around 82 euros for everything – not cheap, but no more expensive than in other, non -Michelin guide restaurants.
You can also have short ribs, brisket and other top-quality cuts of local beef. Traditional marinated raw crab and bibimbap are also popular.
Will I come to this restaurant again? Yes!
